I was very happy when New York-based painter Giorgio Casu contacted me for an accommodation in Tulum. After browsing creamhotel’s portfolio of properties he chose Gorilla Penthouse and he couldn’t have made a better choice!

Gorilla Penthouse is a gorgeous, spacious room for two located at Residencia Gorilla: a creative house by the beach, situated right before the entrance of the beautiful Sian’ Kaan biosphere and owned by Alfonso, an innovative spirit who will make sure you’ll enjoy your stay as a local. Residencia Gorilla is happy to host artists and creatives in general and involve them in creative projects within the local community.

Giorgio loved the penthouse: its view on both the jungle and the sea; its private terrace with outdoor shower and breath-taking sunsets and the sound of waves at night.

Alfonso involved Giorgio in a project aimed to raise awareness on the spread in the Atlantic Ocean and, in particular, in the Caribbean sea, of the Lyon fish, with catastrophic consequences for the all ecosystem and marine life. For this cause Giorgio created a beautiful lion fish painting on wood, which he exchanged for a couple of nights for free at the penthouse. It was a pleasure for a company committed in the Arts such as Creamhotel to connect a great artist with an art oriented venture like Residencia Gorilla!

“What a great place is Tulum!” Giorgio says. “After a long search for the perfect spot to enjoy sun and peace with the intention of painting a Mural in Tulum Town, for my personal art mission, thanks to Cream Hotel I found this ultimate location ,Recidencia Gorilla. It’s located 100 feet walk from a stunning white fine sand beach, so i decided to spend 7 days at the Gorilla Penthouse: private large balcony, open shower and all the comfort. Overlooking the jungle in the most beautiful intact natural scenario it opens to a second perfect sunset balcony… The whole Tulum community is involved in the Lion fish project and I decided to contribute with a painting on wood that will remind of this legacy and that wants to refer to this species’ danger habit of abusing their environment with no concern for other species and the overall ecosystem.

The Lyon fish dilemma mirrors the human behavior in many ways … so i add a lighthouse that always is my reference for enlightenment again despair of value and mission in life. I end up having the best time with long run on the beach and swimming in the ocean as well last day massage in the sunset balcony with residence’s masseuse Elisabeth. Looking forward to go back and enjoying the amazing crew and ultimate location. Thanks to Virginia and Cream Hotel.”

Thank you Giorgio!!!
